A Tote

I made another bag for my mother-in-law. She picked out the coolest material and then let me have at it. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a pic before I mailed it. But this bag is another version of the one I made her. I made it smaller, and instead of matching the tabs that hold the straps to the straps, I thought it would add interest if I made them black.
I was actually going for shorter and wider, but I got my measurements a little off. I liked the idea of these straps because you could use it as a shoulder bag, or pull them all up and use it as a hand bag, as in the bottom picture. The book I got the pattern from used a velvet material for the top and straps and it looked like it would hang better since velvet is softer. Anyway, I thought it turned out pretty darn good. The lining is the same gold color as the top with a black pocket.

Bag Give Away

As I've mentioned before, I started sewing. You also my not know that I have an addiction to purses and bags. So I thought, why don't I make my own bags? Save money and learn a new skill. I really like it and I'm getting pretty good at it. (Yes I am tooting my own horn. Toot Toot.) Anyway, I would like to start
selling them, and to get them out there and seen, I am going to have a drawing to give a couple away. I will draw two names, one for each bag.

Leave a comment to enter by Thursday, March 10th and Friday morning I will randomly draw and post the winners.

If you would like to buy one, this style is $25. If you would like to pick your own fabric, let me know. We can work something out. I'm testing new styles and will post them as I get them done. Thanks!

Last Months Art Party

In Socorro, once a year, they hold an Art Party for all the kids. It sounded like fun so I loaded up the kids and we headed downtown to a big ol' gym full of people. There were different craft stations everywhere. There were kids and parents everywhere. It was really cool. While the kids were at a nearby station painting pictures with marbles, I learned how to make this.

So fun. Anyway, I think they should have an Art Party for Adults.
